A shared web hosting service or virtual hosting service or derive host refers to a web hosting service where many websites reside on one web server connected to the Internet. Each site "sits" on its own partition, or section/place on the server to keep it separate from other sites. This is generally the most economical option for hosting as many people share the overall cost of server maintenance.

Shared web hosting allows small and medium sized businesses to build and manage a website without a detailed knowledge of servers, email, or databases.

Very Low cost solutions.
Sharing of advanced programming components by multiple websites. Price distributed among all the websites on shared hosting web server.

Dis-advantages:
Most shared hosting accounts do not properly support secure websites.
Accounts share all hardware resources with "soft" limits imposed by monitoring software (shared hosting servers are notoriously over-sold, often to the detriment of individual accounts).
Shared hosting is inherently difficult to secure completely. Your website is vlunerable with the softwares installed on other shared hosting websites.
Limited ability to host your own components on shared environment.
