A VPN is a user-oriented technology that allows you to browse the web safely and securely. VPS hosting is a service that allows you to host your website on a virtual server environment.

The virtualization feature of each service is perhaps the only thing that a VPS and VPN have in common (apart from a similarly related acronym).

They serve fundamentally distinct purposes, but you may rely on both services as a user. If you have a large and high-traffic website, for example, you can use VPS hosting to host it. Then, while using the internet to maintain your site, you can utilise VPN software to protect any data you send over the internet.

VPS (Virtual Private Server) is a web hosting option that enables businesses to gain the flexibility and features of a dedicated server without the expense. It uses the principles of shared hosting to reduce the cost of operation by placing several accounts on the same server. It is ideal for small to medium businesses who are in need of fast performance and security.

VPN (Virtual Private Network) is a networking option that uses the Internet to connect a central business location to regional or satellite offices and securely keeps the information away from the public. It connects via a virtual connection to keep information secure and allow the exchange of data with quick efficiency. It offers the ability to share information between distances much like a desktop sharing program.

A VPS (virtual private server) is a server divided into fully separate systems using Virtuozzo. This system allocates memory, CPU, and disk space between a set number of users.

A VPN is a virtual private network. You can build your own, or contact your internet provider for services to obtain a VPN. Unfortunately it isn't possible to set up a VPN on the VPS accounts but you could on any of our dedicated servers.
