PHP Mail Function: Not suitable for large number of mails
The mail()function in PHP is not suitable for larger volumes of email in a loop. This function opens and closes an SMTP socket for each email, which is not very efficient.
As an alternative, we can use PEAR Mail for sending large mails. Please read the documentation here:
